Ad disapproved: common reasons and how to fix them

A disapproval is neither final nor mysterious. Here are the most common reasons translated, and how to get back on air fast.

A disapproved ad stops serving, often without you noticing right away: budget shifts elsewhere, volume drops, and the stated reason is three words of jargon. Here are the most frequent cases and how to handle them.

Trademark in ad text

A registered trademark appears in a headline or description. Two ways out: remove the trademark from the text (keyword targeting itself remains allowed), or assert your usage rights with Google if you are a reseller or the trademark owner.

Misrepresentation

Google considers the ad over-promises, or that the landing page lacks verifiable information. The fix rarely lives in the ad: add complete legal notices, contact details and clear terms to your site, and remove claims you cannot demonstrate ("guaranteed", "cheapest").

Destination not working

The URL returns an error, redirects elsewhere, or blocks the crawler. Test the exact ad URL, including its tracking parameters, on mobile and from the targeted country.

Punctuation, capitals, symbols

The mildest reason: excessive capitals, extra exclamation marks, decorative symbols. Rewrite the headline in normal typography and review usually clears within hours.

The procedure

  • Fix first, appeal second: an edited ad automatically re-enters review.
  • Do not delete the disapproved ad before understanding the reason — you would lose its history.
  • If you are confident you comply, file an appeal quoting the exact reason and the campaign ID.
  • Check whether other ads in the account share the same text: disapprovals often come in series.

SaveAds monitors the review status of your ads, translates the reason into plain language and drafts a ready-to-send appeal with the elements Google expects.
