What SaveAds cannot do
Read-only, and the key stays yours: you revoke it from your site whenever you want, without going through us.
The same figures as Shopify, read through a key/secret pair you generate from your own WordPress admin.
WooCommerce integration
WooCommerce is not hosted by a vendor: it runs on your server. Connecting it is no harder, but it does not look like Shopify — and that is what this page explains.
How do I connect WooCommerce to SaveAds?
WooCommerce has you generate a read-only key and secret from your own WordPress admin, then hands them over. SaveAds stores them encrypted and uses them to read your orders: revenue, average order value, customers. No writing is possible, and you revoke the key from your own site whenever you want, without going through us.
A key you generate, and take back
Where Shopify redirects to its own consent screen, WooCommerce goes through `/wc-auth/v1`: your site asks you to approve an application, read-only, and hands you a key and a secret. SaveAds stores them encrypted and never displays them again.
The consequence is a pleasant one: revocation depends on nobody else. Open WooCommerce → Settings → Advanced → REST API, delete the key, and access stops immediately. SaveAds notices on the next read and marks the connection revoked rather than retrying forever.
The same figures as Shopify, the same rule
Once orders are read, everything else is computed in the same place and the same way as for any other store: days, products, channels, new and returning customers. That is deliberate — writing a Shopify system and then a second WooCommerce system would have guaranteed the two eventually disagreed.
What a store brings remains what no ad platform can say: the amount actually taken, refunds deducted, over the period the ads were running.
What your hosting changes, and what it does not
A self-hosted site can be slow, sat behind an application firewall, or closed to outside calls. SaveAds reads in pages, at a deliberately low rate, and resumes where it left off rather than asking for everything again.
What hosting does not change: the scope. A read key stays a read key, and SaveAds never calls a write endpoint — not even to “fix” a value that looks wrong to it.
Out of scope
- Read-only: no order, product or price is modified.
- No plugin installed and no code dropped on your site.
- The site must be reachable over HTTPS from outside.
- The store counts towards your plan’s connected-source limit.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to install a WordPress plugin?
- No. The WooCommerce REST API ships with WooCommerce: nothing to install, nothing to update, and nothing extra to maintain on your site.
Where are the key and secret stored?
- Encrypted, server-side, and never displayed again once saved. They do not travel back through the browser after connecting, and appear in no log.
What happens if I delete the key from WordPress?
- The next read fails, SaveAds marks the connection revoked and stops calling your site. Data already read stays visible, with the date of the last sync.
Are WooCommerce and WordPress the same connection?
- No, they are two separate sources: one reads your orders, the other your pages and posts. You can connect one without the other, and many sites only need the second.
