Meta Ads MCP: querying Facebook and Instagram from Claude or ChatGPT

On Meta the question is almost never “how much did I spend” but “which of my creatives still holds”. The connector makes that comparison possible without opening Ads Manager.

What is Meta Ads MCP?

Meta Ads MCP is the read access the SaveAds connector opens on a Meta ad account — Facebook and Instagram — for an AI assistant: campaigns, spend, conversions and creatives, through the same tools as every other platform. The connector is read-only, and creating and optimising Meta campaigns from SaveAds is being activated.

What Meta exposes, and what you can ask

For Meta the connector returns the same families of data as for other platforms: connected accounts, performance over a period, campaigns and budgets. Creatives are added — the ads themselves — which matters on a platform where ad fatigue shows at creative level, not at campaign level.

  • “Which Meta campaigns saw their cost per acquisition double in two weeks?”
  • “Compare my Meta and Google Ads spend over the quarter.”
  • “Which creatives are still running while no longer converting?”

Meta today, and what is being activated

Today the permissions Meta grants at connection time cover reading. A Meta recommendation therefore says “apply this yourself” rather than offering a button that would fail on click.

In practice, the assistant can tell you which campaign to cut and why; for now the cut happens in Meta Ads Manager. Write permission has been requested from Meta: creating and optimising your Meta campaigns from SaveAds is being activated.

How it differs from the Google Ads connector

Two differences, and they matter. First, search terms: they do not exist on Meta, where targeting does not run through queries — so wasted spend is a question of audience and creative, not of keyword.

Second, execution: on Google Ads, what the assistant recommends can be applied from SaveAds with safeguards and rollback. On Meta, the loop stops at the recommendation for now; applying from SaveAds is being activated.

Comparing Meta with other platforms in one conversation

The point of the connector is not Meta alone: it is being able to ask a question that crosses platforms. Every connected account comes back through the same tool, with its currency, so the assistant can put side by side spend that normally lives in four separate interfaces.

Limits on the Meta side

  • The connector is read-only; pausing, budget and creation from SaveAds are being activated.
  • No search terms: the concept does not exist on this platform.
  • Readings come from the last sync, not from a live call.
  • Every call consumes one request from your monthly AI allowance.

Frequently asked questions

Are Facebook Ads and Instagram Ads both covered?

Yes. A Meta ad account covers Facebook and Instagram placements; the connector returns account data without splitting by network.

Can Claude change a Meta campaign?

No. The connector contains no write tool. Changing Meta campaigns from SaveAds is being activated, once Meta grants write permission.

Can I connect several Meta ad accounts?

Yes, within your plan’s connected-account limit — across all platforms.
