Google Ads MCP: asking AI questions about your real data
The SaveAds MCP connector makes a Google Ads account queryable in plain language, from Claude or ChatGPT — including search terms, the part of the account nobody ever opens.
What is Google Ads MCP?
Google Ads MCP is a connector that lets an AI assistant read a Google Ads account: spend, campaigns, budgets, conversions, search terms, recommendations and optimisations already applied. In SaveAds it is read-only and served from readings the platform has already synced — the assistant never calls the Google API directly and receives no credentials.
Why Google Ads gains the most from MCP
Google Ads is the one platform where the most useful data is also the most tedious: the search terms report. Hundreds of rows, most irrelevant, a few that explain where the budget goes. That is exactly the sort of sorting an assistant does well and a human postpones.
It is also the platform where SaveAds already applies the resulting fixes — negative keywords, budget, pausing — with Meta, TikTok and LinkedIn being activated. The assistant prepares the decision, SaveAds executes it under safeguards.
What the assistant can read on Google Ads
The connector’s six data tools cover the essentials of an account, within the history depth of your plan.
- Performance — spend, clicks, conversions, cost per acquisition, day by day or aggregated.
- Campaigns — status, daily budget, results and gaps between campaigns.
- Search terms — what was typed, what it cost, what it returned.
- Recommendations — what SaveAds proposes, with the figure justifying it.
- Optimisations — what has already been applied and the effect measured afterwards.
Questions that work
The best questions name a period and a scope. A connected assistant returns a quantified answer with its source; a question with no period forces the connector to choose one for you.
- “Which search terms cost me more than £50 over 30 days without a single conversion?”
- “Compare my campaigns’ cost per acquisition this month against last month.”
- “Which campaigns are limited by budget while still converting?”
- “What has SaveAds applied on this account, and what did it change?”
Questions with no answer, and why
Asking the assistant to pause a campaign produces nothing: no connector tool writes. Asking for audience detail, keyword-level bids or a geographic report produces nothing either — that data is not part of what the connector exposes today.
A question covering a longer period than your plan allows gets a truncated answer, but one announced as truncated.

Frequently asked questions
Can ChatGPT manage my Google Ads campaigns?
- It can analyse them and prepare decisions, not change them. The SaveAds connector is read-only; changes are applied from SaveAds, with a log and a rollback.
Do I need a Google Ads manager account?
- No. SaveAds works with a standalone account as well as one under a manager structure, within the account limit of your plan.
Does my data go through the model?
- Connector responses are sent to the assistant you chose, like any other message in the conversation. What that assistant does with them is governed by its own terms.
